HM Coastguard responded to Tennyson Down yesterday evening (Friday), after reports of a dog going over the edge of the cliff.
Crews from Needles and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams were sent to the incident, where a rope technician was sent over the edge to try and locate the spaniel.
Sadly, despite best efforts, the dog could not be found.

It's prompted a reminder from emergency teams to keep dogs on leads near cliff edges.
