Colwell Bay Rescue Operation Underway After Person Stuck In Mud

A rescue operation is underway to free at least one person stuck in the mud at Colwell Bay this evening (Tuesday).

Crews are at Brambles Chine, Freshwater, alongside coastguard teams

A person has become stuck in the mud, according to the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.

Two pumps, a water rescue team and a landrover are in attendance.

The fire service says appliances from Ryde, Newport and Freshwater have been called.

Firefighters were first alerted at 6.30pm.

*Two people have been rescued from the mud.

The women had become stuck in a landslip between Fort Albert and Colwell.

Nobody was hurt, according to the fire service.
