Controlled Explosion After Fort Victoria Ordnance Find

A controlled explosion has been carried out after suspected ordnance was found near Fort Victoria.

HM Coastguard received a 999 call from member of the public just before 6.15pm on Sunday (20).

A HM Coastguard spokesperson said:

"Needles Coastguard Rescue Team were sent to the scene and photographs were taken to be passed to the Joint Services Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.

"Needles Coastguard Rescue team monitored the situation and ensured that a 100 meter cordon was in place when the item was uncovered by the tide."

Bomb disposal teams safely detonated the ordnance at 5.25pm yesterday evening (Monday).
