Year 11 students and staff at Christ the King College are self-isolating at home.
It comes after a case of coronavirus was confirmed at the school. Year 11 students will now not be back on site until the new year.
An Isle of Wight Council spokesperson said:
“A member of the Christ the King school community has tested positive for Covid-19. Families and staff have all been informed. Year 11 children and associated staff members have been asked to remain at home, self-isolating, as a precautionary measure, and high-quality remote learning will be provided for the children throughout this time."
It is thought nine staff members were told to stay at home, following advice from Public Health England.
It is the third case to have been confirmed at the school. The last was reported on November 20, as Isle of Wight Radio reported.
Three days before, year 10 students were also told to stay home due to staff shortages.
The council says the school remains open for all other staff and students.
