Coronavirus: Further Care Home Death Recorded On Isle Of Wight

Another person has died in a care home on the Isle of Wight, after testing positive for coronavirus.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) data shows the death came in the week to April 16.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 137 deaths in the community on the Island.

121 of those have come in care homes and 10 at home.

Overall, there has been three COVID-19 related deaths at the Island's hospice, one in a 'other communal setting' and two 'elsewhere' in the community.

In total, 290 people have now died on the Isle of Wight after testing positive for the illness. St Mary's Hospital has recorded 153 of those deaths.

Meanwhile, two more cases have been recorded here in today's (Tuesday's) figures. 

The Island's rolling rate remains below the national average.

It comes on the same day as the coronavirus vaccination programme was expanded to those aged 42 and over.
