Coronavirus: Isle Of Wight Case Numbers Surpass 6,000

The Isle of Wight has recorded more than 6,000 cases of coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.

Today's (Wednesday's) daily figures have been published, showing another 74 cases.

That is up from yesterday's (Tuesday's) total of 40.

Of the 6,017 cases recorded on the Island since the pandemic began, 4,338 have come this month (January).

The Island's seven-day rolling average, per 100,00, has once again decreased to 415.5 - yesterday it was at 462.7.

The rolling rate measures patterns or trends in the Government's coronavirus figures.

According to figures from NHS England, another two people have died at the Isle of Wight's Hospital.

Since the start of the pandemic, coronavirus has been mentioned on the death certificates of 171 Islanders.
