Coronavirus: Isle Of Wight Records First Hospital Death In Two Weeks

The Isle of Wight has recorded its first hospital death, linked to coronavirus, in more than two weeks.

Figures from NHS England show that 39 people have now passed away at St Mary's Hospital. That number had previously stood at 38, as reported by Isle of Wight Radio.

There have been 35 COVID-19-related deaths in care homes on the Isle of Wight. Three people have passed away at home and one person has died at Mountbatten.

It means that a total 78 people have now died after testing positive on the Island, according to figures.

A total of 201 people have contracted the illness here. Although, we are expecting an update later today.

According to the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, 47 people have recovered from coronavirus and been discharged from St Mary’s Hospital.
