Coronavirus: Isle Of Wight's January Death Toll At 71

Another five people have died at St Mary's Hospital after testing positive for coronavirus.

It means 71 people have died on the Island in the month of January.

Latest NHS England have been published today (Monday February 1).

They show that one of the five new deaths was backdated to January 3. While, three were recorded on Saturday (30) and yesterday (Sunday 31).

Since the start of the pandemic, coronavirus has been mentioned on the death certificates of 179 Islanders.

St Mary's Hospital has recorded 120 of those deaths.

Isle of Wight Radio revealed on last Tuesday (26) that five people had passed away in the community.

Yesterday, a further 41 cases of coronavirus were recorded on the Isle of Wight.

New data is set to be published later today.
