Could the Isle of Wight get a new Floating Bridge, to replace the troubled Floating Bridge 6?
That's one option being considered - according to the Isle of Wight Council's Lead for Transport.
The chain ferry is finally back in service today (Monday) - after months out for repairs.
Speaking to Isle of Wight Radio, councillor, Phil Jordan, admitted the council is hopeful of getting some money back - and says nothing is off the table when it comes to getting a new vessel.
The council is currently embroiled in a legal battle with the chain ferry's builder, Mainstay Marine and is hoping to claim back some of the costs it has incurred - which runs into millions of pounds.
Listen: Councillor Phil Jordan
He said:
"We did an independent report which will go before Cabinet in January. We are mediating instead of going to court over the costs and losses we have experienced as a result of the vessel being out of action.
"It is great news to get the Floating Bridge back in use. We have done a few repairs and a few modifications. It is great that it is back in time for the Christmas period and New Year. It's a boost for both communities of Cowes and East Cowes - and for the Island."
Cllr Jordan added:
"We are informed that we would find it difficult to claim the costs for a new vessel for varying reasons. But our costs and losses are in the millions (of pounds).
"If we decide to commission a new vessel, which is looking more and more likely as we move forward, then the amount of money we would receive as a result of our losses could vary."
