Cowes Enterprise College Sixth Form Triumphs In Island-Wide Resilience Challenge

A team of Sixth Form students from Cowes Enterprise College, part of Ormiston Academies Trust, has won the island-wide Resilience Challenge in an action packed two-day event.

Working against the clock, students tackled a series of real-world challenges and presented their well-thought-out plan to representatives from the Government, Police, Ambulance Service, Fire Service, Coastguard, Isle Met Office, and Southern Water.

The winning team, consisting of students Dylan, Hope, Will, Finlay, Kaden, and Skyler, were tasked with developing a comprehensive emergency response strategy for the Isle of Wight in the event of a catastrophic flood.

The fast-thinking students demonstrated exceptional teamwork, problem-solving, and strategic thinking. Competing against nine other schools, the team showcased their ability to think quickly under pressure, impressing an esteemed panel of judges.

The competition aligns with Cowes Enterprise College’s Educate for Life vision, equipping students with the skills, resilience, and confidence to tackle real-world challenges.

By engaging in experiences like this, students develop the adaptability and problem-solving abilities that will serve them well in their futures—whether in further education, employment, or beyond.

Rachel Kitley, Principal of Cowes Enterprise College, said:

"We are incredibly proud of our Sixth Form team for their outstanding performance in the Resilience Challenge.

"Their ability to think critically, work collaboratively, and remain composed under pressure is truly commendable.

"This achievement reflects the dedication and ambition of our students, and we are delighted to see them recognised for their talents."
