The decision for Cowes RNLI station to be ever ready during the Round the Island race proved its worth over the weekend.
A yacht with eight people on board had to be towed to safety after losing its steering on the starting line on Saturday morning.
Then in the afternoon a yacht with seven people on board had lost its steering gear on the finishing line.
In both cases the yachts were towed to Trinity Landing.
The lifeboat had first put to sea at 5.30 am and its last launching was in the early afternoon, before finally winding up its operations at around 4pm.
