A medical emergency involving a man who became ill on a 29-foot yacht led to the launching of Cowes RNLI lifeboat today (Wednesday).
The yacht, being sailed by two men, was two miles west of Cowes when Solent Coastguard were alerted to the problem.
The lifeboat launched at 12.37 pm and eventually put two crew members on board, one of them a doctor, before escorting the yacht to Trinity Landing.
The man was then taken by ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital.
The lifeboat returned to station at 1.40 pm.
