There are reports of a serious crash at Northwood this morning (Thursday).
At least two cars are understood to have been involved.
Traffic is building in the area, near Northwood Garage - according to Isle of Wight Radio listeners.
There are long delays between Cowes and Newport, along the main road.
The road is closed between Noke Common and Northwood Garage.
Due to a serious accident at Northwood the route 1 buses are unable to serve from St Mary's hospital to Four cross / Park 7 Ride. Buses are diverting Via Forrest Road, Whitehouse Road, Rolls Hill And Pallance Road.

*The road has now partly reopened.
A police spokesperson said:
"We were called at 7.42am today (November 3) to a report of a serious collision involving two vehicles on Newport Road.
"Emergency services have been in attendance and the road was closed for a period."
We have been informed that police will now allow buses through From Cowes travelling towards Newport only, so we will operate normal route in this direction only for now. Going into Cowes remains on diversion

**A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said:
"We were called to Newport Road, Cowes, at 7.44am today (Thursday) following a RTC.
"One person was extricated from a vehicle by firefighters and handed into the care of paramedics.
"Police and ambulance colleagues were in attendance."
