Critical Care Charity Receives Donation From Hampshire Housebuilder

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has received a donation of £1,500 from a Hampshire housebuilder towards its Operation Airbase appeal.

Barratt David Wilson Homes’ Southampton division gave the cash to help fund the advanced critical care that the charity’s team provides to the most seriously ill and injured patients in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, giving them the best chance of survival and recovery when the worst happens.

Called out to an average of five incidents every day, including cardiac arrests, road traffic collisions, falls and assaults, the life-saving service brings the hospital emergency department to the patient, beachside, roadside, countryside or bedside, day and night, 365 days a year.

Operation Airbase is the charity’s largest fundraising appeal to date, as it seeks to relocate its airbase to a more central location in the region, so that its highly experienced team can reach almost every patient in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight within 10 minutes of take-off, in contrast to the current time of 20 minutes or more.

Keith Wilson, Director of Income and Engagement at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, said:

“Operation Airbase will be the single biggest leap forward in our 17-year history.

"Getting to our patients even faster will give our crew every opportunity to get that patient to hospital alive and for that patient to return home to their family and friends.

“We are incredibly grateful to the people and businesses like Barratt in our local community who support our vision to save time and save lives.”

Tamsin Nichols, Marketing Co-ordinator at Barratt David Wilson Homes’ Southampton Division, said:

“We are committed to supporting organisations in the communities in which we are building.

"Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance provides a vital service that’s available free-of-charge to everyone in the county and we are delighted to be able to support the amazing work they do.”

Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Community Fund is a dedicated financial resource that helps to support local causes which improve the quality of life for those living in the region.
