"Disgusting!" - Isle Of Wight Woman Shocked After Finding Safety Pin In Tesco Loaf

An Isle of Wight woman says she is "disgusted" after finding a safety pin in a loaf of bread bought from Tesco.

Islander Karen Peck says she made the discovery after cutting in to her Tiger Baguette, which she had purchased from the Ryde Tesco Extra store over the weekend.

She told Isle of Wight Radio that she was about to make a sandwich when she found the safety pin, attached to a strand of hair.

Since the discovery, Karen says the superstore has been in touch and offered her £20 - something she described as "a joke".

"I told them that’s a joke and I want to know the outcome as this could of been a lot more serious. Imagine if a child got it stuck in their throat", Karen said.

Karen says she rejected the offer and has informed Environmental Health.

Speaking to Isle of Wight Radio, she said:

"I bought the bread either Friday or Saturday and tore it in half to do sandwiches. It was when I looked at the remaining loaf in the bag that I saw something odd and pulled it out to find a small safety pin in the loaf attached to a long hair!!!

"Disgusting… cut that bit off took pictures and forwarded it to their complaints department. I have today taken it into the store and they have taken my details. Watch this space!!"

Isle of Wight Radio has approached Tesco for a comment.
