Islanders are being told to expect disruption on a main road into Newport from today (Tuesday).
Southern Water is carrying out 12 weeks of works on Fairlee Road, near Medina College.
Pipes are being replaced along the route.
Two-way temporary traffic lights are expected to be in place for the first phase. It's anticipated this will last five to six weeks.
There will also be up to three nights of closures, to minimise disruption to the leisure centre and Medina College.
A sign warns the overnight closures come into effect between 7.30pm and 6am, from Monday, September 26.
Southern Water has apologised for the traffic disruption the work will cause.
Island Roads has said it will monitor the progress.
