Disruption on Red Funnel's vehicle ferry service between East Cowes and Southampton is continuing, with more cancellations announced for today (Wednesday) and tomorrow.
The cross-Solent operator announced that due to its Red Falcon vessel undergoing maintenance, the 5.15am and 5.15pm sailings from Southampton have been withdrawn, along with the 6.45am and 6.46 pm sailings from East Cowes.
Additionally, the following sailings will now sail as freight only crossings - with no capacity for passengers of privately owned vehicles:
- From Southampton: 8.15am, 11.15am, 2.15pm
- From East Cowes: 9.45am, 12:45pm and 3.45pm
Customers have been moved to the nearest available sailing time with a spokesperson apologising for the inconvenience.
A statement said:
“We've moved affected customers travelling from Southampton to the nearest available sailing times and are contacting them with an update.
“However, due to the high volume of traffic travelling from East Cowes on December 27, we are unable to make changes in advance, and therefore anticipate disruption to crossings from the Island throughout the day.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
We're also warned that conditions caused by Storm Gerrit could cause issues on the Red Jet service today between 11am and 5pm and tomorrow between 1.30pm and 5.30pm. It also says the conditions could cause the remaining crossings on the vehicle ferry service to take longer.
