A Cocker Spaniel going over a cliff has prompted a call out for coastguard teams this afternoon (Tuesday).
Isle of Wight Radio understands Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams were called to Culver Down just after 3pm.
A spokesperson For HM Coastguard told Isle of Wight Radio:
'This incident is ongoing, with Ventnor and Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Teams – from about 3.10pm today – being sent to a report of a dog, namely a Cocker Spaniel, over the cliff at Culver Down.
'Coastguard Rescue Team members are ensuring that people at the location stay well clear of the cliff edge.
'It’s likely that a technical cliff rescue will be carried out shortly but it appears as though those assessments are still being made.'
UPDATED 5PM
HM Coastguard says the dog is now safe and well and has been returned to its owner.
