Hampshire Constabulary is urging people to report concerns around illegal doorstep sellers following recent burglaries on the Island.
The warning comes in response to reports of doorstep sellers, colloquially known by some as ‘Nottingham Knockers’, attending people’s addresses and stealing from them.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
"If you have come into contact with this sort of individual and have concerns please contact police immediately.
"If you have elderly friends, family or neighbours living on the Isle of Wight, please make them aware of the risks and share the advice with them too."
