Double Award Success For Shanklin Based Innovative Physics

Pioneering Isle of Wight company Innovative Physics is celebrating success at the prestigious 2022 British Engineering Excellence Awards (BEEAs).

The Shanklin-based enterprise was named the overall Grand Prix winner at the awards having earlier also won the new ‘High Impact Innovator of the Year’ category.

Though no stranger to winning industry awards, the double success at the BEEA’s marks a particular high point for the company which specialises in evolving technologies including sensor technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and pattern recognition.

With around a dozen employees, Innovative Physics works to solve complex science and engineering challenges.

It has been involved in many significant, wide-ranging projects from aiding nuclear decontamination including at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant to identifying security risks at airports and developing techniques that will help speed up the process of detecting cancer.

Innovative Physics general manager, Robert Abbott, said:

“To win two awards, including the overall Grand Prix, really was a special moment for the company and its dedicated employees.

“Once again, we were pleased to fly the flag for Isle of Wight innovation on the national stage.

"We were up against some very strong competition including companies much larger than our own so this is an achievement of which we are particularly proud.”

The company may also not have to wait long for its next accolade having been shortlisted in the International Business of the year category for this year’s FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards in the South East event on Friday (March 25).
