An eleven-year-old child has been recognised for their part in a rescue effort between Colwell Bay and Totland this afternoon (Saturday).
During a walk along the seawall between the two bays, an adult relative of the unnamed child fell on the wall and was knocked unconscious with a head injury.
According to Freshwater Firestation, the eleven-year-old boy took quick action and phoned for help, then waited at Totland Pier to guide the Co-Responder and Ambulance Crew to the scene 200 metres away.
