Ellen MacArthur Foundation Receives £1.25 Million Dream Fund Award

Cowes-based charity, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation will be joining forces with the Sustainable Food Trust to launch their Nature Positive Food Challenge at the start of next year.

A £1.25 million award will be used to launch and deliver the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s iconic Food Challenge, which aims to bring nature-positive food to supermarket shelves within two years.

Having written and released The Big Food Redesign: Regenerating nature with the circular economy report last year, the Foundation is now working to turn the ambitions it outlined into positive working actions.

The focus of this year's Dream Fund has been centred around projects that deliver systemic change in the following funding categories: environment/conservation, social inequality, and pandemic recovery.

In 2023, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the Sustainable Food Trust will bring together key players from right across the food system, including designers, manufacturers, and some of our biggest retailers.

The Dream Fund award secures the three-year project which will reshape how food is designed, grown, and marketed to provide delicious nutrition for all while allowing nature to thrive.

Andrew Morlet, Chief Executive of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation said:

“This is the third time the Foundation has won a People’s Postcode Lottery Dream Fund award and we are once again thrilled to be the recipients of their continued support as we work to shift the economy into one that is regenerative by design.

"Changing our food system is one of the most powerful things we can do to tackle some of the biggest challenges we face such as climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution."
