
A host of fire crews from across the Isle of Wight have been called to Blackgang this afternoon (Thursday).
Teams from Ventnor and Newport and Ventnor were alerted to a blaze adjacent to Blackgang Road at around 12pm.
Strong winds have caused smoke to spread in the area.
We have contacted the fire service for further information.
UPDATE 5pm:
A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire Service spokesperson said:
"At 11:50 this morning (20th February) crews from Newport and Ventnor were called to Blackgang Road to assist with a bonfire.
"Crews extinguished the bonfire with two main jets and handed the incident back to site staff. The stop came in at 14:29."
