Emergency Services Sent To Sandown's Ocean Hotel Following Second 'Deliberate' Fire Of Week

Police are continuing to investigate after firefighters were sent to Sandown's Ocean Hotel for the SECOND time this week.

Police were called out to the derelict property again last night following a previous fire on Monday (August 5).

Firefighters from Sandown, Shanklin and Ryde were called out after smoke was seen billowing from the former hotel once again.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said:

"We are aware of another fire at the derelict Ocean Hotel in Sandown last night (Thursday) which is reported to have been set deliberately, and we will be making enquiries.

"Police continue to support the ongoing partnership work with other agencies including the local authority and fire service to resolve wider issues surrounding the security of the site, and the associated anti-social behaviour and criminality.

"We urge people to please keep reporting incidents and concerns to us – the information you provide will assist all agencies with the ongoing problem-solving work."
