An exciting digital competition for young Islanders is underway to get involved with during lockdown, which requires some bug-inspired ideas.
Architect business Mattinson Assocociates based in Whitwell has previously held the Young Designers Award competition, which aims to educate children about architecture.
But the Island-based firm says ‘due to a lack of funding’ it was unable to take place in 2020.
So, this year, children aged 16 or under are being asked to design a bug building – an insect hotel in the shape of your favourite building.
There are two ways to enter:
- Draw a picture of your dream bug building
- Make a model from your garden and household waste and submit a maximum of three photographs
Both require a maximum of 200 words about the model or drawing (this portion will not be judged, it is just to help explain the design).
Email your entry to [email protected] with the subject line ‘The Bug Building Competition’.
The winner will get an eco-friendly bundle and a book on architecture.
The competition closes at midnight on 28 February.
