New Opportunity For Young People To Become NHS Heroes

The IW NHS Trust has launched a new initiative alongside colleagues from the HTP Apprenticeship College.

The IW NHS Trust Careers for Young People Programme is providing those leaving school or currently not working with the opportunity for a career at the Trust.

From September, the two-year education programme will help 16-24 year olds navigate a path to one of more than 150 careers available within the NHS on the Island.

The programme starts with a six-month traineeship where successful candidates will undertake placements in both Healthcare and Business Support services to gain a valuable insight into the roles and careers available.

Upon successful completion of the traineeship, an 18-month apprenticeship with the Trust can begin straight away with further opportunities for career progression available right through to Degree Level.

Nicola Longson, Director of Operations, said:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for both the young people wanting to start a career within the NHS and for the Trust.

“The NHS is able to offer careers in catering, finance, estates and facilities, management and many more.

"If young people aren’t sure which career route they want to take, but would love to become part of the NHS, this programme gives them the opportunity to explore the endless opportunities.”
