Face To Face Support Relaunched For LGBTQ+ Young People On Isle Of Wight

LGBTQ+ support for young people on the Isle of Wight has been relaunched as a face-to-face service.

The support group, run by Hampshire LGBTQ+ charity, Breakout Youth, is an opportunity for people aged 11-25 who are LGBTQ+ or questioning their sexual or gender identity to attend a safe, non-judgemental space and be part of a community with like-minded young people.

The weekly sessions cover a range of activities, including games, arts and crafts, as well as information about LGBTQ+ rights, sexual health and how to stay safe.

Zoe Grant, manager at Breakout Youth, said:

“Young people who identify as LGBTQ+ or who are unsure can often feel isolated and alone with their sexuality or gender identity.

"Our friendly youth workers give young people the confidence and resilience to explore who they are or who they want to become in a safe, supportive environment.

"It offers them the chance to create friendships and allies of their own age, which boosts their mental well-being and engagement with the wider world.”

Breakout Youth can be contacted by phone on 02380 224 224, or by emailing [email protected].

If you, or a young person you know, are experiencing a mental health crisis and live on the Isle of Wight, Space 4 U, an out of hours mental health support service, is available every Monday, Tuesday and Saturday.
