Wightlink's FastCat service is to remain suspended for the rest of today (Tuesday) - but a charter vessel will be in place tomorrow.
During its journey from Ryde last night, Wight Ryder 2 hit some debris in the water and has damaged a propeller.
Wightlink's second FastCat is currently in refit and not available for service.
A minibus and taxis are taking customers from Ryde Pier to Fishbourne to travel by Wightlink's car ferry.
Wightlink tickets are accepted on Hovertravel and on the replacement bus service from the Hovertravel terminal to and from Fishbourne if Hovertravel are suspended due to weather.
A Wightlink spokesperson confirmed:
"The FastCat service will be suspended today.
"Our FastCat service will be replaced with a charter vessel on Wednesday, 9 November while repairs are completed on the damaged Wight Ryder.
"We will be operating a temporary timetable with service starting at 6.15am from Portsmouth Harbour. Please check our Live Service Status page for timetable information.
"We sincerely apologise for the changes to your travel plans."
