Fears for a person in the water has prompted a large emergency service response to Fishbourne this afternoon (Tuesday).
Police, coastguard, lifeboats teams are all said to be at the incident.
The Coastguard Helicopter from Lee-On-Solent is searching the area from above.
Cowes RNLI lifeboat is currently at Wootton Creek, alongside Ryde Rescue and Portsmouth RNLI.
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said:
"The Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge, Ventnor and Portsmouth, the RNLI lifeboats from Cowes and Portsmouth, the independent lifeboats from Ryde and Gosport and the Lee-on-the-Solent search and rescue helicopter are currently assisting Hampshire Constabulary with a search in the Fishbourne area."
Police officers have also been making inquiries at Wightlink's Fishbourne terminal.
Isle of Wight Radio has been told there a concerns for the safety of a woman.
It's understood emergency teams are investigating reports a person may have bought a ferry ticket at the Fishbourne terminal, but not shown up in Portsmouth.

Ventnor and Bembridge Coastguard teams are searching the shoreline.
Updated 3.18pm
*A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
"This is in relation to a missing person, a 30-year-old woman. Officers were searching the area of the terminal as we believe she may have been there.
"It is now believed that she has gotten off a ferry in Portsmouth."
The search has now been called off.
