A fire onboard a RIB just outside Cowes Harbour prompted a call out for Cowes RNLI Lifeboat last night (Wednesday).
A man and a woman reported the emergency at around 6.30pm when they were just off the harbour breakwater.
The couple put the fire out with an extinguisher before the first outside assistance arrived, provided by a training vessel then taken over by Cowes lifeboat.
The RIB was brought to shore west of Cowes Castle to be checked by firefighters before it was towed to Trinity Landing.
