Fire crews are responding to an incident on Oakfield High Street this afternoon (Monday) following reports of heat coming from a street supply of electricity.
An area near Oakfield Stores has been cordoned off as a precaution.
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service says crews are responding to a call received at 1.32pm.
One appliance from Ryde is in attendance.
The road is currently closed for unrelated works.
