Firefighters from Ryde were called in to assist ambulance crews in gaining access to a flat in Ryde this morning (Saturday).
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service received a call just before 8.30am with a concern for the welfare of the person living there.
Teams assembled on Cross Street with a police van used to block the road between George Street and Union Street while crews worked to gain access.
An extension ladder was used to access the second-floor property externally via a window, with another team using an internal staircase.
The road reopened shortly after 9.39am.
