More than 25mm has fallen overnight in Cowes, prompting the Environment agency to issue a flood alert for Gurnard Luck.
The Environment Agency said:
"The water level in the Gurnard Luck is high and rising. Overnight, 25mm of rain was recorded in Cowes. Most of the rain fell in 3 hours, which is a large amount in a short period of time.
"High tide at Cowes is expected at 11am this morning (Tuesday). From 1pm, the water level could become high enough to cause garden flooding to properties located immediately next to the river in Marsh Road (Gurnard). The weather will remain settled and dry over the next 5 days.
"The river will rise until 2pm this afternoon. It will then begin to drain with the lowering tide. From 4pm onwards, no further impacts are expected from the river. We continue to monitor the forecast, and will remove any reported blockages. Until the level falls with the lowering tide, please keep away from the river at Gurnard Road Bridge. Water will be deep and fast flowing. This flood alert will be removed by 6pm."
