Natural England has awarded Fort Victoria 'Accredited Country Park' status - it's one of only a handful of parks in the south.

Accreditation shows potential visitors that the country park has essential facilities and services that you would expect to see in a good country park.

The accreditation criteria demonstrates what a good country park should offer.

Fort Victoria is the only accredited Country Park on the Island, and one of only a handful in the south.

It came about after Fort Victoria Business Association decided to form a Friends Group with the Councils permission and as a statement of intent set about gaining accreditation for the park.

They said they were "dismayed by the lack of Investment in the park due to ongoing budget pressures at County hall."
