Four Arrested And Two In Hospital Following Newport Burglary

Four men have been arrested and two left in hospital following an aggravated burglary in Newport on Monday (January 20).

Police were called at 11:20am to Furrlongs where two arrests were made.

Enquiries subsequently led them to an address at Rookley Country Park where two further arrests were made.

Two men were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries on their heads.

All four men who were arrested have now been conditionally bailed until Sunday 20 April while our enquiries continue:

A 41 year-old man from Newport arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, affray, and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

A 41 year-old man from Newport arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and two instances of theft from a shop.

A 37 year-old man from Sandown arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of a Class A drug.

A 34 year-old man from Ryde arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug - cocaine, aggravated burglary, driving with an alcohol level above the limit, and driving whilst unfit through drugs.
