Parking at the Isle of Wight's hospital will remain free for staff and visitors — for now.
From Friday (1), parking charges will be reinstated for staff at hospital's across the country, the Government has announced.
However, the Isle of Wight NHS Trust has confirmed it will not yet bring back charges at St Mary's Hospital car parks.
A spokesperson for the trust said:
"From Friday 1 April, measures at St. Mary’s Hospital and it’s community sites remain the same. Parking continues to be free for staff and visitors and face masks are still required when attending an appointment or visiting a loved one.
"As restrictions change further, we will still be implementing the important steps of hands, face and space to protect the vulnerable people in our care."
Free parking has been in place at St Mary's since COVID sent the country into lockdown.
The trust has told Isle of Wight Radio that should parking charges be reintroduced, it will give staff and visitors 6 weeks' notice.
