Full Steam At Isle Of Wight Steam Railway With Return Of Steam Show

Isle of Wight Railway's Steam Show

The annual Isle of Wight Steam Railway's Steam Show is underway this Bank Holiday Weekend.

Now in its 46th year, it sees a collection of traction engines, vintage cars, historic motorbikes, military and commercial vehicles descend on Havenstreet station.

In the main arena, there is the high-speed Little Nippers terrier racing and the Adrenaline Tour quad-bike riders.

The popular ‘traction engine games’ sees veteran steam vehicles compete in challenges and a game of musical chairs.

With live music on the woodland stage, an old-fashioned fairground carousel, and the Railway’s Train Story Discovery Centre is also open.

Trains depart every 30 minutes throughout the day, with the line’s flagship engine W24 ‘Calbourne’ in action throughout the weekend.

General Manager, Steve Backhouse said:

“Following the cancellation of the 2021 event, we’re all delighted that this popular event is
back.

“This is the biggest event in the Railway’s calendar and it means a lot to be welcoming visitors back to this festival of steam.”

The Island Steam Show takes place throughout the bank holiday weekend, concluding on Mon 30 August.
