A reduced capacity Glastonbury event in September could be a good thing for the Isle of Wight Festival - according to the man behind the music extravaganza.
It was revealed today (Thursday) that the organisers of Glastonbury have been granted a licence to stage a two-day event in September.
It's expected to be a family-friendly festival, but Mendip Council's imposed more than 50 conditions - including a ban on camping and demanding fewer than 50,000 people be allowed on site in total, rather than around 200,000.
The event could be happening on the same weekend as the rescheduled Isle of Wight Festival at Seaclose Park (September 17/18).
Festival organiser, John Giddings, said the news could be good for the Island event.
John told Isle of Wight Radio:
"It shows a confidence that shows are going to happen!"
More news is expected in the coming weeks.
Tickets for the Isle of Wight Festival - headlined by Liam Gallagher, Snow Patrol, David Guetta and Duran Duran - can be purchased here.
