Island-based brewery Goddards is celebrating after scooping four top accolades at the prestigious London Beer Competition, which took place last month.
A diverse selection of Goddards brews took home awards, with Planet Lager and Duck’s Folly both receiving silver medals.
A silver medal was also awarded to South Island Pale Ale, which was developed in collaboration with Boojum & Snark.
Quarr Abbey Ale received a bronze medal.
This is the second year the brewery has submitted four entries and come back with four wins, after taking home four silver medals at last year’s competition.
Bob Simpson, Managing Director of Goddards, said:
"To enter four beers and receive four medals for the second year running is a great achievement.
"Not only does it demonstrate our consistent production quality, but it also clearly shows that we can compete in a global marketplace.
"Praise however ought to go to our brewing and bottling teams who work together to produce these fantastic products.”
The awards seek to “recognise, reward and help promote beer brands that have successfully been created to identify with and target a specific beer drinker in mind”.
The marketability and value of the beers therefore play a large part in the judging process, in addition to quality and taste.
Beers were judged on three primary criteria; quality, value and packaging, and scored on a 100-point scale by a panel of industry experts.
Beers that scored 90+ points were awarded Gold medals, while those that scored 76 to 89 points were awarded Silver medals and Bronze awarded to beers with 65 to 75 points.
