Gritters Out Again As Cold Weather Alert Comes Into Force For Isle Of Wight

Cold temperatures will see gritters out on the Island's roads once again tonight (Wednesday).

Island Roads will treat precautionary routes and bridge decks at Stag lane and Foxes Road in Newport.

It will start at 5.30pm today and again at 5am tomorrow morning (Thursday).

Island Roads said:

"Please drive accordingly to road conditions."

A rare cold weather alert is in force for the Island.

Issued by the Met Office, it warns of a 90 per cent chance of freezing conditions as air from the Arctic spreads south across the country.

It's in place from 6pm today until 9am on Monday (12).
