Gurnard Primary School Shines In Latest Ofsted Inspection

Gurnard Primary School has received high praise in its latest Ofsted inspection, published today (Monday).

The inspection report highlights the school's exceptional early years provision, behaviour and attitudes, and personal development, all of which were rated as 'Outstanding'. The quality of education and leadership and management were both rated as 'Good'.

Headteacher, Clemma Yardley, said:

"We are incredibly proud to have received three Outstanding judgements and two Good judgements. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, students, and the entire school community.

“We received just one development point, which is an area we are already working on and are committed to building on to secure the highest quality of education across all areas of the curriculum."

Since joining the school in September 2022, Clemma has prioritised ensuring that children are happy, safe, and in a position to thrive both socially and academically.

The inspection report reflects these efforts, with inspectors noting that "children in Reception get off to an exceptional start to their schooling" and that "the school fosters an environment that is aspirational for the achievement of all groups of pupils."

The report also commended the school for its inclusive approach, stating that "pupils with SEND have the same opportunities as their peers and are well supported to be successful."

Additionally, the school's well-considered outdoor activities, prioritisation of reading, and positive relationships were highlighted as key strengths.

"Pupils try hard and achieve well," the report noted, adding that "pupils show heartfelt kindness as they learn and play together." The inspectors also observed that "pupils are extremely happy and proud to attend Gurnard Primary" and that "pupils' behaviour throughout the school is exemplary."

Clemma added:

"I am so incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far but also very excited about the future. We aim to build on our many strengths and make Gurnard Primary an even more fantastic place to be.

“This report is a testament to our commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment, alongside our focus on high-quality education.”
