Highway In A Manger - Island Roads Staff Show Christmas Spirit

Island Roads staff have donated funds and Christmas presents to the Daisy Chains charity for the families of children with long-term or life-limiting illness or disability.

In total, 35 gifts were handed over to Daisy Chains leaders for distribution to deserving mums and dads as well as £65 raised from a Christmas jumper Day.

Daisy Chains has again been chosen by Island Roads staff as their charity of the year and the money and gifts were part of ongoing activities to support the charity. Around £160 has been raised this year.

Victoria Chick, Island Roads IMS co-ordinator and charity committee member, said:

“We know that Daisy Chain children will receive gifts through the excellent IW Toy Appeal but we wanted to do something to put a smile on the faces of the parents as well.

“We had collected gifts like boxes of chocolates and pamper sets throughout December and we were able to top that up with money from our annual Christmas jumper day which will go to the Daisy Chains charity.

“Daisy Chains do such great work and we hope to raise a lot more money for them in 2022 as our chosen charity for next year.”

Daisy Chains was founded in 2012 by a group of Island parents who have children affected by long term or life limiting illness or disability.

Much of the charity’s work involves helping with the travel needs of families requiring treatment or therapy on the mainland.
