Hospital Access Changes As Children's Emergency Department Works Get Underway

Work is getting underway to improve access to St Mary's Children's Emergency Department for ambulances from Monday (4th September) - and it'll mean some temporary changes for everyone heading to the hospital.

As part of the extensive investment and improvement work to improve health care services for the island’s community for the longer term, the Isle of Wight NHS Trust is upgrading the entrance to the Children’s Emergency Department to improve access for ambulances.

In order to complete this work the movement of cars around the hospital site will be restricted so that a new ambulance entrance can be built.

There will be no vehicle through route across the St Mary's Site, people wanting to park in the north car park, at the front of the hospital, should use the main entrance on Parkhurst Road and everyone else will need to use the entrances on Dodnor Lane entrance at the back of the hospital.

This work is scheduled take 5 weeks and the diversion will remain in place for this period.
