Hundreds To Compete In West Wight Chilly Hilly Run

More than 300 runners are set to take part in the West Wight Chilly Hilly run this Sunday (December 4).

The annual 10-mile event happens over varied terrain, in aid of the West Wight Sports and Community Centre.

Now in it’s eighth year, the race, sponsored by Love Running in Newport, has become a favourite way to kick off the festive season with local and mainland runners alike, making their way around the challenging loop.

It takes in iconic views from Tennyson Down, the Needles, Headon Warren and an exhilarating sea wall sprint between Totland and Colwell Bay.

Children will have the chance to take place in a Junior Fancy Dress Fun Run at 10am at the centre, with a Tapnell Farm family ticket prize for the best fancy dress. From 11am, supporters will be able to track runners on big screens in the sports hall, where there will be children’s soft play and face painting.

At the finish, runners will be awarded a festive-themed sustainable medal, along with a mince pie provided by The Cooperative Food, Freshwater, and a cup of mulled wine.
