Isabelle's Artwork Bringing Colour To East Cowes Esplanade

Young artist Isabelle Dove, from Holy Cross Catholic Primary School in East Cowes, is making sure everybody knows how to get to the esplanade.

A brand new enamelled sign has been unveiled on Columbine Road featuring Isabelle's artwork.

The sign includes a host of local features: the paddling pool, the woods at Spring Hill, the beach huts, the café, and Columbine Building and, right in the middle, a big sign pointing visitors towards the beach.

Isabelle and her family were joined by the mayor of East Cowes, Cllr Michael Paler, and the Isle of Wight Council's director of regeneration, Chris Ashman, to declare the new sign open on Thursday December 9.

Isabelle was the winner of the 'To the Seafront' mural competition, organised by the IW Council and East Cowes Town Council earlier this year.

Chris Ashman said:

"The Isle of Wight Council is working closely with the East Cowes community to make the best of the levelling-up money that the town has been awarded by the government.

"The East Cowes waterfront, and the important public areas of the esplanade, are where the focus of the regeneration is likely to be.

"I'm grateful to Isabelle for her enthusiasm and drawing skills, and am confident she will be growing up in a town with a thriving waterfront, esplanade, and much more."
