Parinith Mahesh, an Island-born boy born to parents of Indian origin, is currently in Year 6 at Queensgate Foundation Primary school in East Cowes, but has chosen Sir Thomas Rich’s School in Gloucester, to attend from next school year.

Parinith passed the 11-plus exams at Ripon Grammar in Yorkshire, Bexley County, Redbridge, Buckinghamshire County, Essex County, Warwickshire County, The Triffin School, Wiltshire County and Sutton County but chose the Gloucestershire school after scoring in the top ten per cent of students taking their test.

Mahesh Kumar Puttamadaiah, Parinith’s father, is a senior engineer at GKN Aerospace, while his mother, Tejashree Ramraju, works as the cancer Information and urology MDT coordinator at St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.

As well as his academic excellence, Parinith also enjoys many sports, music and interests around his Hindu Indian heritage.

He plays cricket for East Cowes, rugby for Vectis RFC, as well as enjoying swimming with Seaclose SC and taekwondo.

He sings in the school choir and takes piano lessons.

His family will move to Gloucestershire next year.

His father, Mahesh, said:
