Businesses on the Isle of Wight have been learning about the Government's Electric Car (EV) Salary Sacrifice Scheme.
An event, held at Newport's Caffe Isola, was brought together by Paul and Nancy Thorley of Island based Vehicle Consulting Solent, alongside Sue Lucas of accountants Moore and Alison Colley from Real Employment Law.
Nancy said:
“We want to ensure Island businesses can take full advantage of the scheme which saves money and enhances benefits to employees, helping them and their staff to go greener, quicker while experiencing all the benefits of driving an electric vehicle. There is no cheaper way for employees to acquire a brand new electric car than via this scheme.”
Sue Lucas, Chair of Moore (South) LLP and a partner at their Newport office explained about company and employee tax benefits, together with tax planning considerations.
Paul Thorley, Director of Vehicle Consulting, explained how to access the new scheme, the extensive range of electric vehicles available and the fuller benefits including all servicing and repairs, breakdown cover and road tax being included.
Alison Colley, Founder of Real Employment Law reflected on the benefits to employee retention and considerations for employment contracts.
Jonathan Thornton, Managing Director of Ryde based PC Consultants, added:
“We have already worked with Paul and Nancy at Vehicle Consulting to provide one of our team with a Tesla. The benefits to staff retention and morale should not be underestimated, together with the wider company benefits.”
Paul, Nancy and the Vehicle Consulting Solent team are working closely with Island businesses to learn more about the Government initiative.
