Island Roads Called Out To 26 Weather-Related Incidents In Three Days

Island Roads has received 26 call-outs for weather-related incidents since Tuesday (January 2) and we remain on alert given the ongoing weather.

The company is now appealing for people to take additional care wherever they are on the network during this wet and windy weather.

Here's a full rundown of the call-outs over the past few days, as rain and wind continue to hammer the Island.

Tuesday January 2

  • Surface Flooding Blackwater Road, Newport (by the Cricket Club) Flood warning signs put out.
  • Surface Flooding Sandown Road, Arreton (nr WBM) Flood warning signs put out.
  • Barrack Shute, Niton -fallen tree  cleared
  • Flood warning signs at Rowborough Lane, Brading
  • Morton Common, Brading - flood warning signs set out
  • Sunset Close Freshwater Fallen tree branch removed
  • Newport Road, Godshill - flood warning signs put out
  • Surface Flooding Shanklin Road, Godshill - flood warning signs set out
  • Surface Flooding Esplanade/NorthWalk , Ryde- flood warning signs set out.
  • Fallen Tree Snowdrop Lane, Gatcombe – removed
  • Surface Flooding Main Road, Chillerton - flood warning signs set out
  • Surface Flooding Main Road, Ningwood (Burt Close to Station Road) – flood warning signs set out.
  • Surface flooding Underclif Drive, Ventnor - flood warning signs set out
  • Hanging/split branch St Edmunds walk, Wootton.
  • Leaning Tree Trinity Road, Ventnor - tree removed
  • Rew Lane, Wroxall Fallen Tree - IR removed root ball/stump.
  • Fallen Tree Lower Road, Brading - set up a closure for 3rd party removal.
  • Fallen Tree Elm Lane, Calbourne - tree removed .
  • Fallen Tree Princess Path East Cowes - tree removed

Wednesday January 3

  • Morton Common, Brading Road Closure
  • Fallen Tree Rear West Avenue, Lake - tree removed
  • Bagwich Lane, Godshill Bank Slippage made safe with barriers. Ongoing monitoring.
  • Long Lane, Newport Snapped/Hanging branch removed from site
  • Leaning Tree Thorley Road, Yarmouth-  tree removed
  • Fallen Tree Graeme Road, Yarmouth.

Thursday January 4

  • Castle Close Steps, Ventnor blown over 3rd party fence gang on the way to sort
