Islanders Celebrate Their Gardens As Entries Boom To Wight In Bloom

Entries to the Island’s gardening competition Wight in Bloom have rocketed since last year.

Wight in Bloom has seen a 27% growth in entries this year as nearly 100 individuals, groups and businesses have entered their horticultural hard work across 10 categories, demonstrating their pride in where they live and work, and their efforts to add a splash of colour to their surroundings.

Organised by Visit Isle of Wight, Wight in Bloom is open to all Island residents and organisations with the aim to make the Island a brighter, greener place to live and visit.

The judges will be marking the entries according to 5 different criteria, including ‘overall impression’, design, horticultural practice, innovation and sustainability across categories including Best Large Garden, Best Small Tourist Attraction Garden and Best Commercial Garden.

Judging takes place over the next few weeks in the form of mystery visits, ahead of an award ceremony at Albert Cottage in East Cowes, hosted by Wight in Bloom patron Alan Titchmarsh MBE in July.
