Islanders are being warned about rogue traders doing the rounds, who are making false claims about urgent repair work that's needed to their home.
Isle of Wight Radio has been told that a man in a small grey van with roof ladders knocked on a door in Wootton, stating that the property had loose roof tiles today (Wednesday).
A flyer was presented, with the company name 'High Line Roofing', with several contact numbers. He then left.
The homeowner checked the name, which is associated with a firm in Heathrow, London.
He called the company, who confirmed it was not one of their staff and had received previous calls about it, leading them to believe it was a scam.
